You will be working as the Human factors Design Engineer for a leading Defence an Aerospace company being involved in various programmes
The company aims to provide an excellent work/life balance by offering benefits such as highly flexible working.
Due to the nature of the role, BPSS clearance will be required to start with SC clearance being required further along.
What you will be involved in:
Applying human performance principles, methodologies and technologies to the design of human-machine systems, products and workstations
Proposing, evaluating and refining own HMI designs
Developing and implementing research methodologies and statistical analysis plans to design prototypes
Interfacing with other engineering disciplines to ensure human factors principles are adopted throughout design, and human-machine interfaces are optimal
Deriving human-system design, operational and training requirements
Identifying and analysing technical problems or risks, performing theoretical or practical human factors investigations to mitigate or bring to closure
Developing evaluation and test plans, and driving their implementation
Supporting system engineering tasks e.g requirements analysis, decomposition and sell-off
Planning and managing assigned work, reporting status to the Human Factors Lead / Specialist Engineering Manager
Required Skills:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited University or College and capability typically achieved through around 5-7 years of professional experience
Experience in user interface design and definition, information architecture, usability testing, ergonomics assessment, human factors methodologies, within a consultative, engineering or defence environment

Desired skills, qualifications and experience:
Experience of Airborne Mission and Surveillance Systems, Maritime and Land domains
Developing Early Human Factors Analysis,RAIDO registers, HF Plans and Assurance Reports
Knowledge of design standards ISO 9241, Def Stan 00-251 and/or IEC60945
Proven ability to produce cost effective and technically compliant solutions
Registered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors
IMO Regulations IEC 60945 and 62388
Knowledge of both hardware and the software development lifecycle
Has the intellectual calibre and confidence to conduct complex discussions with civilian and service customers or suppliers
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Works well in a team environment
Capable of developing and communication a vision for assigned elements of work
Developing Early Human Factors Analysis and RAIDO registers
Developing Human Factors Integration Plans and HFI Case Reports
Managing suppliers to ensure HF needs are accommodated in their development/delivery programmes
Registered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors
Aviation and Maritime experience
Systems Engineering experience e.g requirements development, hardware / interface design
