Mechanical Fitter
Reports to:
Workshop Manager
Purpose of role:
The assembly, modification, and refurbishment of armoured vehicles and other products, their assemblies and installation of sub-systems
Office Base:
The main place of work will be the site in Rustington, Worthing.
Travel in the UK and occasional European and International travel could be required as part of this role

Specific Responsibilities
The role requires the individual to have broad automotive experience that can be applied to mechanical and electrical systems, body, trim, and particularly bespoke installations fitted to in service military vehicles and survivability systems
The predominant focus is likely to be on systems and installations rather than engine and drive train, however all round in-depth automotive knowledge is required in order to be effective in this role.
Supply technical knowledge to a range of products.
Support the Company activities at sites, customers, or sub-contract facilities
Hands on assembly of electro/mechanical assemblies including any of the following:
Assembly of mechanical and electrical components
Inspection
Working with various mechanical equipment
Working with various chemicals
Reading schematic drawings
Engage in generic tasks e.g
driving company vehicles and minor facility activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to include lean manufacturing principles.
Assist the Workshop Manager on performance [KPI's].
Contribute towards assisting in building a motivated team to increase morale

Knowledge
The role requires an individual who:
Can demonstrate diagnostics and repair experience on automotive / auto electronic / control / bespoke to role systems.
Has good hand skills with tools.
Has the ability to react tactfully to difficult circumstances whilst maintaining composure.
Has a flexible approach to work during busier times and when holiday cover is required.
Will work in accordance with ISO 9001 and Environmental, Health and Safety processes & procedures.
Has the ability to quickly identify vehicle spares parts from parts catalogues and repair and maintenance information from service manuals.
Has the ability to work under pressure and support the team, whilst keeping a positive "can do" attitude.
Holds a full UK driving licence.
Is eligible for UK Security Clearance to minimum Security Cleared [SC]
Experience
Minimum 5 years' low production manufacturing techniques and processes.
Bespoke manufacture of automotive platforms
