Senior IT Project Manager

DescriptionResponsibilities:
Has overall responsibility to deliver internal and external business and enterprise projects to cost timescales, quality and customer satisfaction
Leads and manages the delivery of Typically leads and manages the delivery of large complexity projects or a work package within a larger complex programmes
Internal and external High Business Impact, the projects range from technology and applications to business change focused on transition and transformation aligned customer tactical and strategic road maps.
Is expected to shape, mobiles, plan and lead internal and external projects whilst adhering to internal delivery assurance processes and will be required to collaborate across EITS and within the Portfolio and Project Management Team [PPM] to address lessons learned, share good practice and continuously improve delivery management.
Manages the full Project lifecycle to ensure that, over time, the needs of customers/users continue to be met and that financial and other benefits are achieved.
Defines, documents and carries out small projects or sub-projects [typically less than six months, with limited budget, limited interdependency with other projects, and no significant strategic impact], alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases.
Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project
Applies appropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive [plan-driven] approaches or adaptive [iterative/agile] approaches
Agrees project approach with stakeholders, and prepares realistic plans [including quality, risk and communications plans] and tracks activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate.
Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances
Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.
Actively maintains recognised knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms.
Consolidates expertise from multiple sources, including third party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives
Supports and promotes the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.
Develops and maintains procedures and documentation for databases
Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of appropriate database administration tools and processes, including automation.
Supports projects, functions or teams in the development of project and/or operational methods for measurement
Specifies base and derived measures which support agreed information needs
Identifies and prioritises appropriate measures, scales, and targets
Specifies how to collect and store the data for each required measure
Provides guidance on collection of data including automation
Designs reports and reporting formats.
Leads the development and implementation of a continuity management plan
Identifies information and communication systems that support the critical business processes and manages the relationship with specialists with authority for those systems.
Produces models in support of business strategy
Has in-depth knowledge of a broad range of industry-wide modelling techniques
Advises on the choice of techniques and approach and influences customers accordingly.
Is capable of developing bespoke models for unusual contexts
Responsible for planning and co-ordinating team modelling activities and for ensuring the quality of their work
