Description✓Highways Technology Engineer
✓Do you enjoy working with a down to earth, supportive team but at the same time be relied on to use your own initiative to find solutions to problem out in the field? Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that is delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling or civils works
✓Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.
✓Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, you will be a key member of the M&R [MRTC] Maintenance Team, responsible for completing all technology maintenance tasks
✓You will undertake reactive and planned maintenance on equipment covering the M25 and London.
✓What you'll do:
✓Will have / gain knowledge and application of current technologies, standards, specifications, standards and best practice relating to National Highways Motorway and trunk road communications systems
✓Complete essential maintenance tasks on motorway communications equipment, as laid down by agreed maintenance schedules
✓Will attend to emergency faults and knock downs and carry out corrective maintenance including the reinstatement of sites, cable and equipment damaged by others.
✓Complete dynamic risk assessments for work activities and be proactive in managing safety at all times
✓Attend to faults outside normal working hours on a rota basis
✓Must be prepared to sign up to out of hour's callout and to work nights as required by the contractWho you are:
✓You will have experience of working in the electronics or communications industry and looking to use this knowledge and gain an understanding of highways technology equipment including: AMIs, Message Signs, CCTV, MIDAS, ERTs, Cabinets, Traffic Signals, Weather Stations, Traffic Counting Technologies and Ramp Metering.
✓Key Requirements:
✓Electrical background, ideally 18th edition or equivalent
✓PC literate / IT Proficient
✓G39 Awareness of working near live power
