Infection Prevention & Control Lead Nurse

DescriptionWe are currently working with a large NHS organisation based in London, in the permanent recruitment for an Infection Prevention & Control Lead Nurse.

The post will require on-site working for a band 8C with an annual rate between £74,441 to £84,651.
The post is accountable to the Partnership Chief Nurse and Director of Infection Prevention and Control with day-to-day accountability to the Director of Nursing
To act as a clinical expert in the specialist field of Infection Prevention and Control, practicing at an advanced clinical level and exercising high levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care.
Key responsibilities will include:
Provide clinical leadership, expert practice, and advanced knowledge, building on the body of nursing knowledge in this specialist area, with particular attention to application of this in a mental health setting;
Manage the Infection Prevention and Control Service, leading the delivery of the professional practice agenda, ensuring that both internal and external key performance indicators are met;
Oversee systems to ensure the procurement of required equipment and resources;
Actively contributes as subject matter expert to serious incident reviews where infection control
practice standards are identified as a concern;
Identifies opportunities to reduce harm and improve the patient experience through the work
of the team;
Maintains personal standards of conduct and behaviour consistent with the partnership and
professional guidelines;
Contributes to the clinical effectiveness and risk management process, including adverse
incident reporting/investigation and the management of complaints, as appropriate;
Acts as a clinical lead in the management of safeguarding incidents or legal cases related to
infection prevention and control, supporting practitioners within the team;
Communicate effectively to patients, relatives, and carers in a caring, tactful and re-assuring
Manner;
Monitor and improve standards of care through assessment of practice, clinical audit, disseminating research, teaching, and supporting professional colleagues, and in the provision of skilled professional leadership.
The ideal candidate will have:
Current registration with the NMC;
Specialist nursing infection control qualification /training;
Relevant higher degree in nursing or health related field [MSc/MA];
Recognised teaching qualification e.g., ENB 998, mentoring or other relevant teaching;
Demonstrable experience of Infection Prevention and Control;
Research/Audit and surveillance experience;
Significant and relevant experience in senior IPC leadership/management role in a large/complex healthcare organisation;
Able to analyse data and provide and reports;
Understanding of current professional nursing and health related issues;
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
