Laboratory Technician

DescriptionOne of our local authority clients are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician
This is a temporary contract for 2 months with possible further extension based on budget and performance.
Main Purpose of Post/Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician will be required to analyse submitted samples to determine material properties and establish if they conform to their specified requirements, investigate non-conformances, and give technical support to the operations technicians.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Routine and non-routine laboratory work, including basic chemical analysis using established methods
* Assist as required in troubleshooting of plant technical problems.
* Apply health and safety and quality standards as required by the company systems and legislation
* Investigate root causes of non-conformance and suggest prevention.
* Order and maintain raw materials/reagents and equipment as required
* Determine material properties of submitted samples and establish if they conform to their specified requirements.
* Reporting of results to the Site Manager.
* Input data in to VWIO database.
* Trending of data, identification of trends, understanding underlying causes.
* Provide chemical/process advice to Operations.
* Working on days.
