We are seeking to appoint a Operational Equipment Support Manager who will bring commitment, passion and experience to our organisation, in managing the team of Operational Equipment Technicans and supporting the Group Manager Fleet & Equipment to provide a critical function to the organisation and front line operational staff
The successful candidate will be inspired to demonstrate and promote behaviours in line with the Job Profile and our Behaviour Competency Framework
Specifically, we are seeking individuals who have very good knowledge of the range and functionality of operational equipment used by firefighters to safely perform their roles
The candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
Applicants dedicated to the Grey Book conditions of service will be required to be a competent Firefighter.
The key focus of this role is:
As the Operational Equipment Support Manager, you will be responsible for a team of Operational Equipment Technicians who ensure that all operational equipment is serviced, maintained and compliant to current standards and the required legislation.
Working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders, you will provide support to the Group Manager Fleet and Equipment to facilitate and develop improvements to operational equipment function to meet the needs of the organisation for now and into the future.
You will need to devise roll out strategies for new equipment including provision of safe stowage and the create or modify documentation which includes, but is not limited to, risk assessments, equipment notes and learning materials.
Additionally, where required, you will support the wider fleet and equipment department to deliver service plan objectives that contribute towards ensuring that RBFRS provided the best service to the communities we serve.
Key role requirements [knowledge, skills and experience]:
Ability to communicate to a high standard both verbally and in writing to produce documents in a range of formats to suit operational personnel and external stakeholders.
Knowledge and understanding of RPE, Rescue Equipment, Working at Height Equipment, Water Rescue Equipment and Hazardous Materials Equipment in an operational context.
Knowledge of underpinning standards and legislation associated with the provision of equipment at work.
You will need to satisfy the requirements of a Standard DBS check.
