Duration: 6 months [potential for extension]
Hours: 37 hrs [hybrid after initial training period]
Mon - Thurs 8am - 4.45pm Friday 8am - 12pm
Your Skills and Experience:
Aerospace, Automotive, or electrical industry background
CIPS qualification and a 2:1 or greater degree classification in business or engineering.
Demonstrate an understanding of business processes with a high degree of commercial acumen.
Communicate effectively both internally and externally.
Act with a focus on delivering concrete and sustainable results.
Demonstrate a track record of improving key performance indicators [KPIs] in an aerospace environment, working independently or as part of a multi-functional team.
Engineering knowledge/exposure is advantageous.
Experience in utilising lean Continuous Improvement [CI] techniques
Daily Responsibilities:
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of suppliers and building effective relationships to achieve on-time delivery [OTD] performance
You will develop and execute the Value Stream Procurement strategy, align with commodity managers and supplier development, and ensure the achievement of business measures
Your role involves driving improvements in Quality, Cost, and Delivery [QCD] performance, managing purchase orders and schedules, supporting commodity management processes, negotiating costs, resolving payment and invoice issues, facilitating stakeholder reviews, and mitigating supply chain risks
Additionally, you will work on BOM configuration and control, MRP management, supply chain benchmarking, and supplier production readiness assessments.
Manage a portfolio of suppliers and build effective relationships to achieve on-time delivery performance.
Develop and execute the Value Stream Procurement strategy under the direction of the Procurement Manager.
Align with commodity managers, supplier development, and value stream to ensure the achievement of business measures.
Drive supplier-generated improvement plans to improve Quality, Cost, and Delivery [QCD] performance.
Manage purchase orders, purchase order schedules, and purchase price variances.
Support commodity management in the request for quotation [RFQ] and supplier selection process.
Negotiate and manage costs for tactical suppliers in support of commodity strategy and cost reduction targets.
Resolve supplier payment and invoice issues in a timely manner.
Facilitate stakeholder reviews and action outcomes to support change management and transfer programs.
Work with New Product Introduction [NPI] teams and engineering to ensure timely identification of requirements and supply solutions.
Configure and control Bills of Materials [BOM].
Manage Material Requirements Planning [MRP] in line with program and business requirements.
Proactively mitigate or minimize supply chain risks.
Manage escalations and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Investigate alternate sources of supply and benchmark the current supply chain.
Conduct Supplier Production Rate Readiness [PRR] and capacity assessments
