More about your role  
You will play a key role in the Group's Governance & Secretariat team charged with addressing the governance and company secretarial requirements of a diverse and changing Group
You will ensure the successful delivery and continuous improvement of all work expected from this type of specialist function.  
Leading the management of statutory records and governance and company secretarial compliance work for an extensive portfolio of Group entities, you will be working closely with and deputising for the Group Company Secretary
You will also manage the day to day activities of the team comprising two Assistant Company Secretaries and the Governance & Secretariat Coordinator to ensure the work of the overall team is aligned with its overarching remit to deliver a professional service to its internal customer base.  
You will provide subject matter expertise in order to analyse current or future governance requirements and where appropriate, make recommendations to ensure compliance with evolving legislative and regulatory requirements are met.  
Please note that this will largely be an agile role; however, regular travel will be expected to attend meetings in any number of our offices but primarily those located in in York, Edinburgh, London and Preston.

More about you 
You will be familiar with the law underpinning governance and company secretarial activity in private companies and knowledge of relevant practice in community benefit societies, registered charities, FCA-regulated firms and public companies listed with debt would be particularly advantageous.  Due to the nature and pace of the role you will be expected to work efficiently and accurately under pressure. 
You will have significant proven experience working within a complex multi-company organisation, ideally with a relevant qualification.  
You will be able to demonstrate expertise in governance policy and practice and have the ability to synthesise concepts and information from a range of sources to design solutions that best support the needs of the Group as a whole or the relevant part of the Group to meet each challenge.
