Our client is an established Midlands-based charity supporting young people at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness, assisting them in accessing and maintaining accommodation and developing their life-skills.
This charity work with an integrated and multidisciplinary approach, offering a holistic experience to their clients to ensure they have a secure development plan, realising their opportunities and reaching their potential.
The Role
My client is currently hiring for a Housing Management Worker, working for a period of 3-months prior to a temporary to permanent transition.
This vacancy will be based in Edgbaston, Birmingham
It will be a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week
Shifts will be flexible, primarily across a Monday to Friday rota, either working from 8AM to 4PM, or 1PM to 9PM
Rotas will be issued in advance.
Payment for this role will be between £11.20 [PAYE] or £13.30 [Umbrella PAYE]. 
The Responsibilities
As a Housing Management worker, you will need to encourage and motivate young people to engage with and sustain education, training, and employment opportunities.
You will be tasked with supporting young peoples’ progress, working innovatively and flexibly to assist with any problems which may arise.
Part of your role will be to refer young people for opportunities in work experience and employment as appropriate
You will need to maintain accurate records of all young people action plans and progress
As a Housing Management worker, you will be required to undertake holistic risk and needs assessments and to develop support and risk management plans.
An important part of your role will be to support and encourage young people to develop positive family and other support networks.
You will be required to prepare young people to take up and sustain settled accommodation and to continue to provide ongoing support to them.
As a Housing Management worker, you will need to be available to young people for regular support sessions and to respond to crises.
Furthermore, you will need to take responsibility for safeguarding the welfare of young people.
The Requirements
Prior experience in working with children or young people, either within a social care or hostel setting.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, such as safeguarding procedures or antidiscrimination laws.
Knowledge of welfare & benefits options for vulnerable people in the UK, such as PIP, Housing Benefits or Universal Credit.
The Desirables
NVQ Level 3 in relevant fields such as Advice & Guidance, Youth Work, Health & Social Care etc.
Prior employment experience in working with adults and/or young people experiencing homelessness.
