Shift Pattern: Monday to Sunday [8am to 8pm] varies

About the role
The role of a Support Worker is to enable the people we support to manage aspects of their every daily life, support with benefits, finances, food shopping, bills, correspondence, any court or other, housing and tenancy sustainment, personal care, accessing activities in their community, volunteering or accessing work, attending appointments, health checks, facilitating meetings with families, other professionals, social services, etc.
This position involves supporting people with learning disabilities in various supported living projects in Lambeth [Brixton and Stockwell areas] and supporting people with learning disabilities as part of the Outreach Community Support in different London Boroughs, covering Lambeth, Southwark and occasionally Wandsworth
People in the outreach service live with family or independently and require specific support on a weekly basis.
The role involves working on a rota basis daytime only, we support people from Monday to Sunday, often working two weekends every month approximately
You would be expected to work across the cluster of services.
The role involves a high level of walking to visit at times 2 or more clients per day when you support outreach services or based at one place when working in a supported living accommodation
People require active and energetic people to access their community and go for walks, train rides, as well as support with advocating and calling benefit services or other for their tenancies, etc.
It is crucial you have a great level of IT skills and knowledge.
Duties will include:
- Making a difference to the lives of those you support
- Help to use a range of recovery oriented and person-centred planning tools
- Ensure all plans and records relating to the people we support are accurate and up to date
- Support with everyday tasks to maximise the individual’s independence
- Work in a consistent and positive way with local managers and other team members to ensure people get a great service
- Undertake various levels of personal care and manual handling
About you
To be a Support Worker at Certitude, experience is not essential
Full training will be given; however, the following are essential:
- Ability to motivate others and build confidence
- Ability to work on your own initiative and also be a great team player
- Practical, adaptable and organised
- Have interests and skills that they are willing to share and get others involved
- Ability to use technology – PC and modern technology equipment
