As a current bird owner, you are aware that birds are wild animals at heart, and that they require constant daily handling and interaction to remain tame; please ensure that the prospective new owner is aware of this as well, and that they have the ability, facilities, funds, and lifestyle to accommodate bird ownership.

Is the potential new owner committed?

Some birds have a long lifespan and may outlive their new owners; ensure sure any potential owner is aware of this and is willing to devote to the bird for the rest of their lives.

New to bird ownership

Whether the new owner is a bird collector or someone who is just getting started with bird ownership, make sure that if they have other birds, they must be kept apart and separate for at least a month.

Are you happy with the new owner?

Just because someone looks at your bird doesn't mean you have to give it to them; if you don't trust the individual is the right person, simply say no.
