Underneath the curly, low-allergen coat hides a beautiful athlete and year-round friend. Poodles are available in three sizes: standard, miniature, and toy. Standard poodles should stand more than 15 inches tall at the shoulder; miniatures should reach 15 inches or less; and toy poodles should stand no more than 10 inches. The structure and proportions of all three types are identical. Poodles are frequently seen at dog shows wearing the extravagant Continental Clip. The Sporting Clip, in which the coat is sheared to match the form of the squarely built, smoothly muscled body, is preferred by the majority of pet owners. Forget about the preconceptions about Poodles being snobby dogs. Poodles are enthusiastic, athletic, and wickedly intelligent "genuine dogs" with a wide range of abilities.
